Tuesday publication post! In this newest publication of #McMasterUniversity in Canada, Jihyeon Park, Eric Liu, Shayan Angizi, Ahmed Abdellah, Ecem Yelekli Kirici and Drew Higgins have looked at the formation of core-shell Ir@TiO2 nanoparticles as oxygen evolution catalysts using the #AtmosphereAX!

At 500 °C, Ir segregates from a mixed metal oxide to form the stable core-shell Ir@TiO2 structure.
⚡ Delivered 1,880 A gIr⁻¹ at 1.7 V (RHE), this new structure shows a significant improvement over commercial IrOx (624 A gIr⁻¹).
This innovative structure lowers Ir requirements without sacrificing performance, addressing both cost and sustainability challenges.

This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the core-shell formation mechanism under annealing conditions and demonstrates the potential of Core-shell Ir@TiO2 catalysts to balance activity, stability, and material efficiency.
